Bully for Southside Video!

For the sixth year, Southside School has won an award for a student video in the Digitalkie Contest sponsored by the Northwest Council for Computer Education.  For this years’ conference, held in Portland February 18-20, movies were entered from elementary, middle and high schools in Montana, Idaho, Oregon and Washington. The entries were posted on the TeacherTube website and voted on by the public.

In the Middle School category, Southside was a Grand Prize winner with a video titled “Bye Bye Bully” created by students Jacob Greenwalt, Meagan Goorhouse, Casey Lindley, Cole Rose and Savannah Pearson; the advisor was Technology Specialist Dan McGovern.  The group was awarded a $100 Best Buy gift certificate for the school. In the movie, student scientists concoct a potion that makes a bully temporarily disappear.

Two other movies from Southside were entered: “A Day in the Life of a Computer Monitor” created by Josh Briggs, Joshua Armstrong, Gabby Boysen, Gabe Martinez and Eric Lofgren and “Southside News: Ghost Edition” created by Madeline Miller, Madison Jacoby, Emily Kester and Mandi Menigoz. The advisor for these groups was Mary Chabuk, Librarian/Media Specialist.
